The CBRC required banks sparing no efforts in guaranteeing financial services in earthquake stricken area

A 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit Lushan county in Sichuan province. Under the guidance of the CBRC, the CBRC Sichuan Office took prompt measures guiding the banking institutions in earthquake stricken areas to resume business as soon as possible. In addition, green business channels were set up to provide financial services for the local people.

Banking institutions are fully engaged in protecting the deposits of the local people. Special taskforces were set up to protect the bank vault and ensure the safety of business certificates. Meanwhile, efforts were made to prevent the occurrence of fire, theft and robbery. Currently, banking business operates stably in the earthquake stricken area.

Second, under the premise of safety, banking institutions in disaster area should put every effort to ensure normal business operation, and guarantee the service of deposit withdrawal.

Thirdly, green channels of fund settlements were established. Banks should assist local people with the affirmation of lost cards or saving books by simplifying relevant procedures .The clients may report losses by offering names, account number or card numbers. They can withdraw money over the counter as long as names, ID numbers, deposited amounts and addresses are in match.

Fourthly, local banks should establish a special counter for disaster relief to ensure the allocation and payment of relief funds. They should reduce the related service charges.

In addition, banks should help victims of the earthquake by providing drinking water and other convenience services. The CBRC local office should establish a green channel to deal with urgent matter.
